Special economic zones now under PPA
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has issued 12 executive orders transferring the jurisdiction of 10 special economic zones in Mindanao and two in the Visayas to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
Executive Orders 108 to 119 placed the ports of Tubigon in Bohol and Guinsiliban in Camiguin in the Visayas under the PPA’s administrative jurisdiction.
Ten other ports placed under the PPA were in Mindanao: Tubod in Lanao del Norte; Aras-asan in Cagwait and Cantilan in Surigao del Sur; Dapitan City and Sindangan in Zamboanga del Norte; Port of Maco in Compostela Valley; General Santos City; Cotabato City in Maguindanao; Kalamansig in Sultan Kudarat; and Dapa in Siargao Island.
“The ports, as delineated, are hereby placed under the administrative jurisdiction of PPA, which shall, consistent with the regional industrial plans of the government, implement a program for the proper zoning, planning and development and utilization of the ports,” read a portion of the text.
