More donors give to Damayan ‘Pablo’ fund drive
MANILA, Philippines - Kind-hearted companies and individuals continued to send in their donations to the ongoing fund drive of The Philippine STAR that will go to much-needed assistance for victims of super typhoon “Pablo” in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.
Operation Damayan, the charitable arm of The STAR that implements the various advocacies and social projects of the country’s biggest newspaper group, expresses its gratitude to the following for their donations amounting to P220,778: Laguesma, Magsalin Consulta & Gastardo law offices, P25,000; East Lane Corp., P20,000; Rural Bank of Baco (Oriental Mindoro) Inc., P20,000; Consuelo and Ester Bautista, P10,000; Teresita Cruz, P10,000; Babes, P10,000; employees of Sarao Motors Inc., P6,278; Papercon Phils. Inc., P5,000; Anonymous, P5,000; Q-CnC/ATC, P3,000; Mr. & Mrs. Edward Cua, P1,500; Anonymous, P1,000; Angeli Alexis Austria, P1,000; Pao Family, P1,000; Miriam Sañosa, P1,000; and Benjamin & Edilberta Fermin, P1,000.
With the latest batch of donations, The STAR’s relief drive now totals P2.33 million.
Operation Damayan also recently held a bingo fund-raiser and allotted part of the proceeds to its relief mission in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.
The amount will be used to provide emergency relief to families that have been badly hit by the typhoon, which has claimed more than 900 lives, with just as many yet to be accounted for.
