MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Thursday that 79 partylist groups, including 21 new sectoral organizations, can participate in the mid-term elections next year.
The Comelec en banc said that among the 79 partylist groups, 58 are existing sectoral groups and 21 are new entrants.
Of the 79 party-list groups, only 74 were named by the Comelec because there are pending petitions against the approval of the remaining five groups' applications.
The poll body said that it would still come up with a list that would include groups that have been accredited and disqualified.
