Comelec disqualifies 7 more party-list groups

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday announced that it has disqualified seven more party-list groups from running in the 2013 mid-term polls.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the commission en banc delisted Fitness Pinoy Association Inc., Pinoy Aasenso Ka, Ahente, Ang Sandigan ng mga Batang Lansangan (Asabala), Bantay OCW, Samahan ng Nagtataguyod ng Daang Matuwid (Sandama), and 1-Abante Na Pinoy.

Jimenez said the Comelec en banc ruled that the party-list groups do not represent the marginalized and underrepresented sectors.

Ahente claims to represent professionals, the labor sector and urban poor. Its nominee, Danilo dela Cruz Jr., is the publisher of Condo Central magazine and is in the real estate industry.

The Comelec will release the final list of party-list groups that are either accredited or disqualified.
