SM Megamall celebrates Christmas with HK Disneyland

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - SM Megamall celebrated the Yuletide season with the launch of a “Mega Magical Christmas with Hong Kong Disneyland,” a resort built by the government of Hong Kong and The Walt Disney Co., last Nov. 9 at the Event Center. The Christmas launch is a first of its kind in the Philippines.

A 16-feet snowy Disney castle served as the centerpiece in the area. Beloved Disney friends Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse also performed a new entertainment show called “Snow Time,” produced exclusively for guests attending the celebration.

A meet and greet with the two Disney characters was also held with 50 children from Nayong Kabataan Center in Mandaluyong City, invited by SM Foundation, the socio civic arm of SM, as guests. Each of them was treated to a Christmas gift pack. In addition, Hong Kong Disneyland will donate more than 800 Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse plush toys to centers under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through SM Foundation.

The event was graced by Hong Kong Disneyland managing director Andrew Kam, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. president Hans Sy, and SM Supermalls president Annie Garcia.

“The Philippines is one of the top three international markets for Hong Kong Disneyland. It is our great pleasure to be invited by SM Megamall to spread the Disney magic and create this Mega Magical Christmas celebration for the very first time in the Philippines,” said Kam.

Guests visiting the Event Center can also enjoy exclusive vacation packages offered by participating travel agencies with offers such as free upgrades to the Hong Kong Disneyland 2-Day Ticket, Magic 2-in-1 Coupons, and premium gifts. Guests who purchase Hong Kong Disneyland tour packages with their Visa credit cards at the event are also entitled to join a lucky draw for an upgraded hotel and tour experience.

The Disney magic is spreading across the entire SM Megamall. A 30-foot Christmas tree decorated with Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys is displayed at the Mega Atrium. This festive display, together with a Toy Story Land-themed photo corner located at the upper ground floor of Building B, will last until Jan. 6, 2013, offering guests endless fun photo opportunities for the festive season.

The meet and greet session and performance of Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the Event Center will be held today at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort offers immersive Disney experiences for all ages to enjoy. Hong Kong is one of only five locations in the world that is home to a Disney theme park and adored Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, and Stitch. It has received more than 31 million guests, and has received awards from the entertainment sectors.

The Mega Magical Christmas with Hong Kong Disneyland is one of the many exciting events at SM Megamall.
