Warning issued on northeast monsoon
MANILA, Philippines - The weather bureau located yesterday a northeast monsoon prevailing over Batanes, Calayan Island, Cagayan and Ilocos Norte.
Because of this, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) advised fishermen not to sail out to sea today as waters could be “very rough.”
PAGASA forecaster Meno Mendoza said waves could be from 2.5 to 4.5 meters.
At 5 p.m. yesterday, PAGASA also spotted a cold front across the extreme part of Northern Luzon.
Cagayan Valley, the Bicol region and the Zamboanga Peninsula would have cloudy skies with occasional light rains, while the Ilocos and Cordillera regions would experience light rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast would prevail over Northern Luzon, which would have moderate to rough coastal waters.
