Robredo's pa rushed to hospital

MANILA, Philippines - The father of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo was rushed to hospital last Monday due to pneumonia.

The 89-year-old Jose Chan Robredo Sr. has been in and out of the hospital due to his illness, said Butch Robredo, older brother of the late local government chief.

Butch said their father was brought to the intensive care unit of the Mother Seton Hospital in Naga City at 2 p.m.

Reports said the Robredo siblings opted not to inform their parents of the death of Jesse, considering their health conditions.

Their mother is Marcelina Manalastas.

The Robredo patriarch has been blind for over five decades but managed to provide for and raise his five children.
