Del Castillo safe from impeachment

MANILA, Philippines - Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile hinted yesterday that the Senate will not look into the impeachment complaint against Justice Mariano del Castillo.

Enrile said the case against Del Castillo is a “mere civil damage suit and not an impeachable case.”

The House committee on justice has found sufficient grounds to impeach Del Castillo for alleged plagiarism and misrepresentation in a decision regarding the case of “comfort women.”
