Arrest warrant for Globe Asiatique owner hailed

- Jose Rodel Clapano -

MANILA, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay lauded yesterday the issuance of warrants of arrest against Globe Asiatique owner Delfin Lee and his cohorts on syndicated estafa cases being handled by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Binay, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pag-IBIG Fund, also congratulated the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for their untiring efforts in pursuing the case against Lee and his co-accused.

Globe Asiatique is accused of defrauding ordinary workers who are contributors of Pag-IBIG and the hardworking citizens of Pampanga by allegedly “double-selling” properties that were already sold to other buyers.

Binay said Pasig RTC Judge Amifaith Fider-Reyes issued the arrest warrants against Lee and his cohorts based on her appreciation of the pieces of evidence presented by the DOJ and the NBI.

“The evidence showed that there was sufficient basis to issue the warrants with no recommendation for bail,” he said.

The Vice President added that the issuance of the warrants of arrest shows that “the law is on the side of the ordinary workers duped by Globe Asiatique.”
