Billy Crawford eyed to promote drive vs fake drugs
MANILA, Philippines - The International Police is considering international singer Billy Crawford to be part of a universal collaboration to increase awareness of counterfeit medicines, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome said yesterday.
He said Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble informed him that Crawford’s name has been considered in the program since the singer’s group is linked to the Interpol.
“The Interpol has a project wherein they will tap artists to come up with songs similar to ‘We are the World,’” he said, referring to a song in which singers collaborated to raise funds to address famine in Ethiopia in 1985.
Bartolome noted that Noble expressed concern over the proliferation of counterfeit medicines.
“People who take counterfeit medicines think they are recovering, but it turns out the dosage is lower than what is on the package. It’s even worse if the contents are poisonous,” he said.
