P-Noy approves promotion of 3 generals
MANILA, Philippines - Three generals and four colonels have been promoted to the next rank, the first batch to secure promotion this year.
President Aquino approved the promotion to two-star general of Maj. Gen. Rey Ardo, who allegedly campaigned for a communist party-list group in Lanao and ensured its victory in the 2004 polls.
Ardo, a graduate of Philippine Military Academy Class ’81, is currently the commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
Also promoted to two-star rank was Maj. Gen. Roy Deveraturda, Armed Forces deputy chief of staff for plans.
Deveraturda was the commander of the Air Force 15th Strike Wing in Sangley Point, Cavite and now of the 570th Composite Tactical Wing in Palawan.
Also elevated to two-star rank is Maj. Gen. Raoul Reyes, currently the deputy chief of staff for personnel. Reyes has held key positions, including the Armed Forces deputy inspector general and commander of the Army’s 802nd Brigade.
The military also announced the promotions of four officers to the rank of general. Promoted were Colonels Herbert Yambing, Romeo Taguinod and Emeraldo Magnaye to brigadier general and Navy Capt. Abraham Celzo to commodore.
Yambing, a member of the PMA class ’80, is currently the AFP provost marshal general.
