MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has beefed up security in the country in preparation for the Yuletide season and called on the public to be more vigilant and avoid becoming victims of petty criminals like pickpockets and snatchers.

PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome said an additional 200 policemen from Camp Crame, the national headquarters of the PNP, will augment their forces to boost police visibility in the streets.

“We assure our citizens that we will further improve police visibility and ensure a hassle-free holiday,” Bartolome said.

Bartolome also reminded the 140,000 policemen nationwide to refrain from conducting solicitations, especially during the Christmas season.
