PNP orders probe of attack on Hillary's convoy
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome ordered yesterday an investigation into Wednesday’s attack by militant groups on the convoy of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Bartolome, however, defended his men for the breach of security after about 50 protesters got near the convoy as it left Malacañang and kicked and hurled paint on the vehicles.
“We will see (whether to sanction the head of the security unit) but as far as the initial preparations we’ve seen the police elements have done everything.
And despite all of their thorough preparations, an incident still happened,” Bartolome said in an ambush interview at a gun show at SM Megamall.
“We will see, (just because something happened) it doesn’t mean they did nothing, from the very start their preparations were very thorough,” he added.
