Pagasa: Rainy All Saints' Day
MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau advised yesterday those who will visit the cemeteries today, All Saints’ Day, to bring their umbrellas as rains and thunderstorms are expected to prevail over most parts of the country.
Raymond Ordinario, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said Metro Manila will experience fine weather in the morning but there is a possibility of rains and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Ordinario said northern and eastern Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to wind convergence.
Visayas and Mindanao will also experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone, he said.
Ordinario said the shallow low-pressure area spotted east of Mindanao yesterday has a slim chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.
As of 2 p.m. yesterday, the shallow low-pressure area was spotted at 540 kilometers east of Mindanao and is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone.
It is expected to dissipate within the next three days, he added.
Ordinario said one or two tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this month.
A total of 18 cyclones have entered the country so far this year. – With Evelyn Macairan
