House approval, trust ratings up - Pulse Asia

- Paolo Romero -

MANILA, Philippines - The public approval and trust ratings of the House of Representatives posted significant increases in August since the last survey of Pulse Asia Inc. in May, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said on Friday.

In his address to the chamber following the approval of the proposed P1.8-trillion national budget for 2012 before midnight, Belmonte said the approval rating of the House jumped by seven percentage points or to 48 percent based on the still unreleased results of the poll conducted by Pulse Asia in August.

The House’s trust rating also jumped by 11 points, from 36 percent in May to 47 percent in August 2011.

“These have been the highest ratings obtained by this institution in recent history,” Belmonte said. “Our people have taken notice of our work.”

This achievement has been made possible by our fealty to our office, and our principled engagement as legislators,” he said.

He said the survey outfit would release the official results within the next few days.

Belmonte said the House “has devoted incalculable time and resources to craft a budget that will finance the operations of government and strengthen our people’s chances for a better life.”

He thanked the House leadership and the members for their continued cooperation and for approving vital measures on time.
