Noy to have one last talk with incoming PNP chief
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino yesterday refused to comment on who will be the successor of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Raul Bacalzo Jr. when he retires on Sept. 15, saying only that he still has to talk to the incoming police chief.
“Wala namang issue so far that I can see. But I would want to talk to the incoming one for the last time before I formally announce it,” he told Palace reporters.
“I won’t announce it today, not today, but very, very soon,” Aquino added.
The only reason he is delaying the announcement is that Bacalzo and the incoming PNP chief are still busy finishing up their affairs, including the turnover rites.
There were reports that the next PNP chief would be Deputy Director General Nicanor Bartolome, currently the PNP’s chief of Directorial Staff who also hails from Tarlac, the home province of Aquino. – With Marvin Sy
