Transport operators given 3 months to paint vehicles
MANILA, Philippines - Transport operators were given three months to paint their vehicles in compliance with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) vehicle tagging scheme.
In a statement, Chairman Francis Tolentino said the license plate numbers must be painted on the roof, front, back, and two sides of public utility vehicles using a color scheme for easy classification.
“With the implementation of the vehicle tagging scheme, it will be easier for us to spot traffic violators and those involved in accidents and criminal cases through our closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras,” he said.
Under the guidelines, the following background color scheme shall be observed: yellow for city buses plying EDSA, orange for those not plying EDSA, red for provincial buses plying EDSA, and violet for provincial buses not plying EDSA.
Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) will be painted brown, while blue will be used for metered taxis, green for non-metered, garage taxi, and AUV taxis.
Gray or silver paint are assigned for school buses, pink for tourist or shuttle buses, and gold for cargo trucks.
