MANILA, Philippines – More Filipinos trust and appreciate Vice President Jejomar Binay than President Benigno Aquino III, a survey firm revealed today.
In the latest Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan, Binay enjoyed 83 percent rating in his performance in office while Aquino got 74 percent. The vice president also emerged as the country’s most trusted national government official with 81 percent rating, while Aquino settled second at 75 percent.
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile enjoyed 60 percent approval rating as Senate President, while 50 percent of Filipinos welcomed the work of Speaker Feliciano Belmonte.
Enrile’s trust rating was at 56 percent while Belmonte got 43 percent. On the other hand, only few approve (32 percent) and trust (28 percent) Supreme Court Chief Justice Corona.
The survey fieldwork was conducted from February 24 to March 6, 2011 using face-to-face interviews in 1,200 adult respondents.
Meanwhile, the Palace welcomed the latest Pulse Asia survey, saying they are happy with it even as the vice president received higher rating than the President.
“We’re certainly happy with it because he’s part of the administration. He’s part of the team of the President,” said Palace Spokesman Edwin Lacierda.
