EU may implement pact with Phl in advance
MANILA, Philippines - The European Union may implement in advance the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with the Philippines while awaiting ratification of the agreement by parliaments of the 27 member states.
In a press conference last week, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Guy Ledoux said the EU has to discuss with the Philippines the aspect of the PCA they will implement after it is signed by both countries.
The cooperation agreement, initialed in Brussels last June after the completion of negotiations, is the first comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two parties.
“The PCA was initialed in June 2010 and will be signed very soon. The EU side needs the ratification by parliaments of the 27 members,” said Ledoux.
