MANILA, Philippines - A bag left at a park along Roxas Boulevard across the United States embassy in Manila triggered a bomb scare yesterday.
The Manila police bomb squad rushed to Plaza Ferguson, only to find old clothes and trash inside a bag belonging to a beggar.
Police cordoned off the area while three members of the Explosives and Ordnance Division inspected the bag.
Police Officer 3 Samuel Masa, who is assigned to the police precinct in Rizal Park, called the bomb squad.
It was the latest bomb scare to hit Manila since a bus was bombed in Makati last month.
Five passengers were killed and 13 others injured in the explosion.
