Liz Uy Twitter following surges

YOKOHAMA – Since celebrity stylist Liz Uy was romantically linked to President Aquino, followers of her Twitter account rose to 124,500 from only over a hundred a month ago.

Mr. Aquino admitted that he and Uy had started dating, although not exclusively. He, however, denied the rumor that they would be married next year.

“We have been spending some time together as our schedules would permit. But I guess at this point in time that is the extent of it,” Mr. Aquino said. “I just came from a relationship so I have been meeting a lot of people also.”

Mr. Aquino said that he realized he had feelings for Uy after his trip to the United States.

“Maybe the first part of it would be before I went to America and we had a conversation and I discovered how beautiful a person she was, she talks with sense and is engaging in conversation. The conversation actually was the start,” the President said in an interview with TV-5 reporter Jove Francisco for Aksyon JournalisMO.

The last time they talked was before he left for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders’ Summit here.

“And we exchanged text messages once or twice while I am here,” Mr. Aquino said.

 Former flame

Finding a new love interest, however, did not erase his fondest memories of ex-girlfriend Shalani Soleded with whom he split up last September.

“Shalani has a beautiful family also. Her mother treated us very well. Thoughtful. Her aunt, among others, her cousins (were also good),” he said.

“There were funny moments, like I was obliged to watch a Filipino movie on the first day of showing. I did not quite get the story, the director has a different style, I just won’t mention the film. But I think the conflict only emerged in the last five minutes of the movie. The cinematography was beautiful,” Mr. Aquino said.

Soledad now co-hosts the game show “Willing Willie” on TV-5. Mr. Aquino has yet to see the show.

“I haven’t had the opportunity. Normally when I get to the house there are many things that need to be studied. I don’t know but some think that work should be done in the office but while I’m still awake, it would be a waste (of time if I don’t work) before I sleep. Some (documents) are delivered for me to study,” he said.

Mr. Aquino said Soledad’s hosting gig suits her, especially the part where she would visit houses to give gifts.

“Anybody can easily talk to her, because she looks approachable,” he said.
