2 recalled milk products safe to drink - DOH

- Mayen Jaymalin -

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) yesterday assured the public that the two milk products recalled from the local market by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last Tuesday were safe for consumption.

“To avoid speculation, there is really no safety issues on the two milk products and they are fit for human consumption,” Health Secretary Enrique Ona said yesterday.

The FDA recalled from the market last Tuesday Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement and Sustagen Junior milk powder vanilla flavor for one to three years old.

The milk products manufactured by Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN) Philippines were recalled for not meeting existing standards for fat content level required for all milk products for young children.

FDA director Nazarita Tacandong said, however, that there were no safety concerns on the products.

“The MJN have already agreed to withdraw the two products from the market, but for those who have them in their homes there is nothing to worry they are fit for human consumption,” Ona said.
