'NPO can only serve 40% of government printing requirements'
MANILA, Philippines - The National Printing Office (NPO), the agency tasked to print all accountable forms of the state, can only accommodate 40 percent of the total requirements of the government because of lack of proper facilities.
Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said the country could have saved as much as P400 million a year if only the NPO could service all of the printing requirements of the government.
During the hearing on the proposed P976.2-million budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office for 2011 at the Senate yesterday, Coloma cited a study conducted by a printing industry resource person that showed the potential profit ranging from P300 million to P400 million a year from the printing of all government requirements.
