STAR holds job fair

- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - More than 5,000 jobs are being offered in a two-day job fair launched yesterday by The STAR at the Trinoma on North Avenue in Quezon City.

Bimbo Andrade, Career Guide Group head, said the job fair is the 5th of eight job fairs planned for this year.

“We got a good mix of

employers in this two-day affair numbering some 35 (exhibitors),” Andrade said. The exhibitors are mostly business process outsourcing firms and retail establishments. The exhibitors also include a TV network and a vehicle manufacturer.

Andrade said the job fair is expected to attract 5,000 jobseekers until 6 p.m. today. The fair started at 10 a.m. He said 20 percent to 30 percent of the applicants are likely to get hired.

Andrade said The STAR’s Career Guide is a “dedicated job section” and should not be confused with the classified ads or with for sale or for rent ad services.

“We have been doing this for sometime and about twice a year starting in 2005,” said Norine Villano, Career Guide Account Manager.

Andrade said more job fairs would be held in October at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall, SM Cebu and in Davao City.

“If you want to get updates on job openings that fit your skill, go to www.careerguide.com every Sunday,” Andrade said.
