DOH cuts training programs for doctors, health personnel

- Sheila Crisostomo -

MANILA, Philippines - Health Secretary Enrique Ona has ordered the streamlining of the department’s training programs for doctors and other health personnel.

His head executive assistant, Dr. Yolanda Oliveros, said her superior wants to give priority to operations.

“He (Ona) noticed that there are too many seminars and trainings and he felt we have to focus on operations or implementation,” she told The STAR.

The Department of Health (DOH) organizes training programs to keep its own health staff and those in local government health offices abreast of the latest health issues confronting the country.

Oliveros said training programs have been consuming so much time of the health personnel and is wrecking havoc on the department’s budget.
