Chavit's son to face rough times in House
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Jailed Ilocos Sur second district Rep. Ronald Singson will be facing rough times at the House of Representatives, according to colleague and godfather Baguio Rep. Bernardo Vergara.
With the opposition deemed to collar the ethics committee, Vergara suspects that Singson will have a hard time squeezing out of the mess after hurdling the drug case he is facing in Hong Kong.
Some congressmen are expected to file complaints at the ethics committee against Singson, while family critics in his home province are raring for a declaration of “vacancy” for his post.
Notwithstanding the mess he is in, Ilocanos in Singson’s bailiwick Ilocos Sur are still backing their leader.
The congressman’s supporters are patiently waiting for the scheduled Aug. 19 hearing of drug trafficking charges filed against him in Hong Kong.
There were also talks that Singson’s followers are reportedly mad at actress Lovie Poe for denying any romantic link with the Ilocano lawmaker.
Ilocanos said they had seen the actress at Singson’s campaign sorties in the run-up to the May 10 polls.
