'Mikey funded Ang Galing Pinoy campaign'
MANILA, Philippines - Ang Galing Pinoy party-list representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo was the main financier of the group, its founder admitted yesterday.
Ang Galing founder Bernard Corella said even before the May 10 election, Arroyo had already been helping the group. Corella said Ang Galing was originally an anti-crime group but was disqualified from participating in the elections so they reorganized as a party-list representing security guards and tricycle drivers to participate in the May elections.
“Yes, Rep. Mikey funded our campaign” he said. “Congressman Arroyo has complied with the requirement; in fact, he was proclaimed by the Commission on Election.”
Corella also claimed that a rival party-list group is behind the disqualification case filed before the House Electoral tribunal by a certain Danilo Antipasado, a tricycle driver.
He said a staff of a party-list group, which he declined to identify, accompanied Antipasado in filing the complaint. Corella said the P10,000 filing fee and P150,000 docket fee was paid by the group.
“Either he (Antipasado) is only posturing as tricycle driver, or someone or some groups are funding him against our party-list group,” he said.
