5 massacred in Angeles
MANILA, Philippines - A lone gunman killed five people including a retired US Air Force member and his wife in an apartment in Angeles City yesterday.
All five bore gunshot wounds in their bodies, according to Angeles City police director Superintendent Danilo Bautista.
The American was identified through his ID as Albert Mitchell and his wife as Jeannette Androneda Mitchell.
The three others were Marissa Prado, Isabel Fajardo and Boy Vergara.
Prado and Fajardo were working as housemaids for the Mitchell couple.
Bautista said security guard Angelito Prado discovered the bodies in the apartment at No. 18 Manuela Street, Hensonville Court Subdivision, Barangay Malibanias in Angeles City at around 1:30 p.m.
Prado told police the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt and maroon six-pocket shorts, about 5’6” tall, around 30 years old, medium built and with fair complexion.
Bautista said police investigators are combing the crime scene for evidence while Angeles City police are hunting the suspect.
Prado told police he saw the suspect flee the apartment some 50 meters from his outpost.
The suspect was carrying a backpack and a bag, he added.
Prado said he accosted the suspect and told him to stay in the guardhouse while he checked the apartment.
At the apartment, Prado saw Mitchell sprawled on the floor, bloodied.
When he ran back to the guardhouse, the suspect had already left on board a tricycle, he added.
Prado said he immediately called the police.
The tricycle driver told police he took the suspect to Barangay Marisol, also in Angeles City.
However, when police went to the area, they failed to find the suspect.
Police found in a shanty in Barangay Marisol a sack containing a DVD player and other personal belongings of Mitchell.
Police recovered spent shells of a .9mm pistol from the apartment. However, there was no sign of forced entry, indicating that Mitchell could have known the killer.
