First Gentleman discharged from hospital
MANILA, Philippines - First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo was discharged yesterday from the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) in Taguig Global City after undergoing surgery on his lower back last June 19.
Mr. Arroyo walked out of the main entrance of the hospital at around 3 p.m. and told reporters: “My pain in the back is gone.”
He then boarded a black BMW and proceeded to his house at La Vista Subdivision in Quezon City.
Arroyo’s medical team serenaded him with a song before he was discharged.
President Arroyo was not able to fetch him from the hospital due to an engagement.
Deputy presidential spokesman Gary Olivar said Mrs. Arroyo was happy that her husband had been discharged from SLMC.
“The First Gentleman’s recovery was very, very remarkable,” said Dr. Juliet Gopez-Cervantes, his attending physician.
