'PMP the only true opposition'

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - Former President Joseph Estrada yesterday declared here that the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) is the “only true oppositionist.”

Estrada also said other political groups conspired to remove him from power through EDSA People Power 2 in 2001.

Estrada said the country should only celebrate the EDSA People Power in 1986 that toppled the Marcos dictatorship.

Estrada said he was vindicated when former President Corazon Aquino publicly apologized for taking part in his ouster.

“We have great respect for Cory for her humility,” he said.

Estrada and his running mate, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay, had a motorcade around the city and a proclamation rally at the Melvin Jones Grandstand in Burnham Park. They were also accepted by the Baguio Association of Retired Persons as “adopted sons of the Cordillera.”
