MANILA, Philippines - Father James Reuter, former executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ (CBCP) Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media, was bestowed yesterday the Serviam award, a citation given by the Catholic Mass Media Awards to personalities who have served the less fortunate and inspired others to uphold Christian values.
Serviam is Latin for “I will serve.”
The award was conferred on Reuter by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales at the Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Parañaque.
The 93-year-old priest resigned from his post at the CBCP last June after 39 years of service due to poor health.
Reuter has received numerous awards and recognition for his work in the promotion of the Catholic Church. – Helen Flores
