Ronnie Ricketts eyed as new OMB chief
MANILA, Philippines - A Malacañang official said yesterday actor Ronnie Ricketts is being considered as the replacement of fellow actor Edu Manzano as head of the Optical Media Board (OMB), a post that has been vacant since August.
“I cannot confirm his (Ricketts) appointment yet until his papers are released,” Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said.
For the past few days, reports have come out that Ricketts had been appointed as OMB head.
Manzano resigned from the post in August to attend to personal tasks and focus on his advocacy against child pornography.
His term at the OMB actually ended in March 2007 but he was kept there in a holdover capacity.
Remonde said the search committee, headed by Development Bank of the Philippines chair Patricia Sto. Tomas, is going over Ricketts’ appointment. – Marvin Sy
