World War II cannon, bombs recovered

-

MANILA, Philippines - A vintage World War II cannon and several pieces of ammunition, which were apparently surfaced by raging floodwaters brought by tropical storm “Ondoy” were recovered by Army troops in Antipolo City yesterday.

Lt. Frank Sayson, 2nd infantry division public information office chief, said the cannon was found in the Bosoboso River in Barangay San Jose in the area.

The war items surfaced at the riverbank near the house of one Romualdo Motel, 64.

These were disposed by Army bomb experts after they were recovered.

“The vintage war items discovered and defused were one 75mm cannon and three projectile 50mm high explosive ammunitions,” he said. – James Mananghaya
