MANILA, Philippines - This year’s winners of the most prestigious and longest-running literary awards, the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, will be honored during a formal awarding ceremony tonight at the Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Hotel Manila in Makati City. The event will be streamed live on philstar.com at 7 p.m.
Now on its 59th year, the Palanca Awards carries on its tradition of showing appreciation for and enriching Filipino literary talent and cultural heritage through its 20-category writing competition, including the newly introduced categories of Poetry Written for Children in the English division and Tulang Isinulat para sa mga Bata in the Filipino division.
Established in 1950 to honor Don Carlos Palanca Sr., the Awards aims to help develop Philippine literature by providing incentives for writers to craft their most outstanding literary work and to be a treasury of the Philippines’ literary gems.
