More monsoon rains this week

- Ghio Ong, Helen Flores -

MANILA, Philippines - No weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippines this week but monsoon rains would continue to prevail over most parts of the country in the next five days, the weather bureau reported yesterday.

Administrator Prisco Nilo of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the southwest monsoon would bring rains over Southern Luzon and the Visayas until tomorrow.

He said from Wednesday to Friday, rains would prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and Metropolitan Manila.

Nilo said no tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country this week

He said good weather condition would prevail over the country during the weekend.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said big waves would affect the western and eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas in the next 24 hours due to the surge of the southwest monsoon.

“The western and eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas would have rough to very rough seas with wave heights expected at 3.7 to five meters,” Pagasa said in an advisory.

Pagasa advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture out to sea while larger vessels should be on alert for big waves.
