3 nabbed in shabu laboratory raid

- Sandy Araneta -

MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested last night a Taiwanese and two Chinese nationals during a raid on a suspected shabu laboratory in Tondo, Manila.

NBI director Nestor Mantaring said the operatives of the Reaction, Arrest and Interdiction (RAID), headed by Roel Bolivar, found 36.2 kilos of chemicals for the manufacture of shabu and 5.7 kilos of the finished product – all approximately worth P200 million – at a three-story commercial building on Honorio Lopez Boulevard in Balut, Tondo.

The names of the three suspects were withheld pending the verification of their identities with the Bureau of Immigration.

“Inventory is still ongoing. We received information about the shabu laboratory. Then one of the subjects arrived at the airport. From there we conducted surveillance on him and followed him to the shabu laboratory,” Mantaring said.
