GMA to spend most of next week in Mindanao

President Arroyo will spend most of next week in Mindanao where she will hold a full Cabinet meeting and inspect several projects in various provinces in the island.

According to her tentative schedule, she is expected to arrive in Pagadian City on Monday and fly to Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur for some project inspections. From there, she will proceed to Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental to check on irrigation projects. She will spend the night in Sinicaban town in the same province.

While in Sinicaban, Mrs. Arroyo might go diving after inaugurating the hatchery and the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park. In the evening, she will inaugurate the Ozamiz Public Market and motor to Tangub City for a dinner with local officials and lead the awarding ceremonies for the Christmas showcase and fireworks display. She is scheduled to rest overnight in Ozamiz City.

On Jan. 6, she will proceed to Clarin, Misamis Oriental to inspect a bridge project and fly to Molundo, Lanao del Sur to preside over the Cabinet meeting.

Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III told The STAR that a P300-billion economic sustainability plan is on top of the agenda in the Cabinet meeting. They will also discuss the status of the emergency employment program.

After the meeting, she will fly back to Cagayan de Oro to have dinner with local officials.

On Wednesday, the President will proceed to Camiguin for the province’s 41st founding anniversary and spend the night at Cawayanon, Bukidnon. On Jan. 8, she will give an interview with Bombo Radyo in Del Monte, Bukidnon and then return to Manila.

The first family spent the holidays in Baguio City. Mrs. Arroyo returned to Manila on New Year’s Day.   – Paolo Romero
