PNP intensifies anti-crime campaign

- Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe -

With the onset of the holidays, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its crime prevention campaign by launching anti-crime programs and distributing leaflets with tips on how to avoid being victims of crime.

Manila Police District director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales and PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, along with MPD officials, distributed leaflets to shoppers and vendors shortly after the Talakayan sa Isyu ng Pulis (TSIP) forum held in Tutuban, Divisoria yesterday morning.

Rosales laid down the easiest way to be safe, whether you are Christmas shopping at malls or leaving home for the weeklong holiday vacation.

The MPD chief advised the public to “BE SMART,” an acronym which stands for:

B - Beware of suspicious looking persons;

E - Emergency number should be on hand;

S - Shout or scream to call attention;

M - Movement must be barred to avoid detection;

A - Avoid dimly lighted alleys and streets;

R - Report crime immediately;

T - Train your children to be smart and vigilant.
