UST grad tops nursing board

MANILA, Philippines – A student from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) topped this year’s Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing last June, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced yesterday.

The PRC said 27, 765 out of 64,459 passed the examination given in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

The Board is composed of Carmencita Abaquin, chairman; Leonila Faire, Betty Meritt, Perla Po, Marco Antonio Sto. Tomas, Yolanda Arugayu and Amelia Rosales, members.

UST students dominated the 10 highest places in the examination, with many from other schools getting the same ratings for some slots in the top 10. 

Those who garnered the 10 highest places are Aira Therese Salamanca Javier of the UST, with a rating of 86 percent; Alrin Flores Falgui of Far Eastern University-Nicanor, 85.80 percent; Kristine Maravilla Mendoza of Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Memorial School, 85.60 percent; Joanna Jacob Quirante of UST, 85.60; Ana Rica Chan Gutierrez, UST, 85.40;
