Ex-hostage won't pin down Sulu mayor, son

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY – A former Abu Sayyaf hostage has refused to pin down Indanan, Sulu Mayor Alvarez Isnaji and his son, Haider, as being involved in his kidnapping.

Professor Octavio Dinampo of Mindanao State University said he will not change his affidavit to accuse the Isnajis of masterminding his kidnapping and those of ABS-CBN anchor Ces Drilon and her two cameramen last month.

“I stand by my testimony, and I am not amending anything,” he said.

Speaking to The STAR in Davao City where he met with Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Hermogenes Esperon, Jr., Dinampo said he cannot speak about anything of which he has no personal knowledge.

“I cannot accuse anyone of doing anything that I do not know of,” he said.

Dinampo said he was not aware of the payment of between P20 million to P30 million in ransom for their freedom.   – Edith Regalado
