The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – President Arroyo has ordered the immediate implementation of three infrastructure projects worth P41.14 billion for the construction of new roads and bridges and the management of watershed areas.

The three projects were approved by the National Economic Development Authority board chaired by Mrs. Arroyo during its meeting last week.

The P28.29-billion Road Enhancement and Asset Preservation Management Program (REAPMP) is a sector program type of assistance to enhance the efforts of the government to improve and manage national roads.

The biggest portion of the total program cost or around P14.43 billion will be financed through a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.

The P11.05 billion will be sourced from the national budget and P2.71 billion from the Motor Vehicles User’s Charge special funds.

The REAPMP will be implemented over a period of seven years, from 2008 to 2014.
