MANILA, Philippines – Palau President Tommy Remengesau will arrive in the country today for a short state visit to strengthen bilateral ties with the Philippines.
Vice-President Noli de Castro will meet and welcome Remengesau at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) this afternoon before proceeding to Rizal Park to lay a wreath at the statue of Filipino national hero Jose Rizal.
Remengesau will meet President Arroyo tomorrow after she arrives from Hong Kong.
Palau ministers accompanying Remengesau are also expected to discuss with counterpart Philippine officials on labor, education, quarantine, telecommunications and health issues.
Palau officials are also set to sign an agreement with Cebu Pacific Airlines, a Philippine-based carrier, to start flights between the Philippines and Palau. – Pia Lee-Brago
