After spending one month in the hospital following a tragic vehicular accident in Makati City last Nov. 8 that killed his wife, former senator Rene Saguisag is now back on his feet and ready to face the world.
Saguisag made his first appearance in public after being discharged from the Makati Medical Center at the book launching of his daughter Lara last night.
Lara, 33, said she is very happy to have her father present at the launching of her book entitled “Children of Two Seafarms,” a collection of her original poems, at the National Bookstore in Makati City.
“He’s now okay. I’m happy he attended (the book launching),” she said, adding that she would want to thank the group Alliance of New Nurses for their very sincere effort to offer their services to help ensure and speed up her father’s recovery.
Saguisag’s long-time friend Elfren Cruz, former president Corazon Aquino’s Presidential Management Staff (PMS) chief, was so happy to see him that he called Sen. Joker Arroyo to give him the good news.
“He’s okay, he’s right here,” Cruz said, noting that the former senator will eventually fight legal battles again but not right away, since he still needs to rest.
Saguisag told The STAR that he is physically all right now but he is still emotionally weak because he misses his wife Dulce, who perished in the vehicular accident. – Michael Punongbayan
