American R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles arrived early yesterday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport remote parking area on board an MD-83 jet from Shanghai, China.
The popular singer is in town for a one-night concert, “The Beyonce Experience: Live in Taguig 2007” tonight at the Bonifacio Global City open field. The much-awaited concert is presented by Globe and MTV Philippines
Beyonce, who was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt accented by a scarf and blue denims, and who was holding a blue handbag, arrived with her 10-piece, all-female touring band, dancers and security — a total of some 70 personnel.
As she was stepping down from the plane, Beyonce waved to the crowd of mediamen and well-wishers gathered at the remote parking area.
She then headed straight to a waiting vehicle, a black Expedition that was escorted by some six more vehicles parked at the tarmac.
The 26-year-old former lead singer of Destiny’s Child, the world’s best-selling female group of all time, has a career described by many as phenomenal.
Her popular songs include “Irreplaceable,” “Beautiful Liar” and “Déjà vu” from her second album called B’Day while her debut solo album in 2003, Dangerously in Love, won five Grammy awards the following year and sold 12 million copies worldwide. – Rudy Santos
