The office of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has officially declared Oct. 20 as the nation’s Thank You Day. In response to a survey (conducted by Reader’s Digest) which revealed that the Philippines is ranked among the least courteous cities in the world, the legislation is a proactive movement pioneered by Manila to revive the lost art of saying “Thank you.”
The evening of the nation’s first Thank You Day celebration is set to culminate in a grand initiative spearheaded by Toblerone (the global icon for gifting and graciousness), with the support of Lim, at SM Mall of Asia (iMax parking area) at 6 p.m. Top-billed by country’s most prominent celebrities, with performances from the local music industry’s biggest names, a Thank You Day concert brings together a grateful nation who aims to collectively show their appreciation.
“We are happy to be a part of this pioneering initiative and grateful to have the support of Mayor Lim, in the hopes of bringing back a sense of gratitude in the metro,” says Jondy Syjuco, marketing manager of Toblerone Philippines.
The event also serves as the venue where winners of Toblerone’s series of Thank You Day initiatives launched nationwide can claim their prize. Through this movement, Toblerone together with the city of Manila hopes to underscore the relevance of expressing gratitude today.
