Classes resume tomorrow in NCR

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the resumption of classes tomorrow in the National Capital Region following a long vacation due to the onslaught of typhoons “Chedeng,” “Dodong” and “Egay” last week.

However, Ramon Bacani, Education undersecretary for Regional Operations, said that make-up classes await public elementary and high schools this week to compensate for the lost school hours.

Bacani said that make-up classes will most likely be held on Saturdays.

“Definitely, we will hold make-up classes,” Bacani said.

Bacani admitted that with three days of suspended classes in Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces in Luzon, aside from today being a national holiday, the make-up classes might be prolonged to reach an equal number of school days.

Malacañang moved the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino’s death anniversary to allow a long vacation that started on a weekend.

Bacani said the DepEd has to arrange the make-up classes to observe the imposed number of school days for elementary and high school. – Rainier Allan Ronda
