RP, Japan, Malaysia to hold oil spill control exercises

The Coast Guards of the Philippines, Japan and Malaysia will conduct joint exercises on controlling oil spills in Guimaras Island starting today.
Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Senior Grade Armand Balilo said 300 of their personnel, their foreign counterparts and nongovernment organizations will participate in the exercise dubbed MARPOLEX 07.
He said five of their vessels, two aircraft, three private ships and two others from Indonesia will be taking part in the two-day activity.
Balilo said Japanese experts would give lectures on containing oil spills and other forms of marine pollution. – James Mananghaya
