Charges of murder and double frustrated murder were filed yesterday against a 28-year-old domestic helper before the Kuwait Prosecutors Office for allegedly killing her Kuwaiti employers son.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Esteban Conejos said Kuwaiti authorities filed the charges against the overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
The OFW, who had difficulties with her employer whom she had served for six months, may face death by hanging if found guilty by a Kuwaiti court.
Acting DFA spokesman Eduardo Malaya said the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait reported that the OFW is confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the al-Adan Hospital after she suffered multiple fractures as a result of her fall from the second floor of her employers house.
"The physicians expect her condition to stabilize in a few days. Shes under police security and authorities will allow others to talk to her only after investigations are completed," Malaya said.
He added that the embassy has contracted the services of two Kuwaiti lawyers to prepare for the OFWs legal defense.
The embassy report said the incident happened last Saturday in the suburbs of Mubarak al-Kabeer at around 4:45 p.m. before sunset prayers. Pia Lee-Brago
