PNP revamp likely next year

A reshuffle in the police force is likely next year with the retirement of 14 ranking officers.

One of the retiring officers is Philippine National Police’s No. 3 man — Deputy Director General Isidro Lapeña, deputy chief for operations. Lapeña retires on Jan. 2. The mandatory retirement age for PNP personnel is 56.

PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon did not name the possible replacements for the retiring officers but he said they were all qualified for the job.

Sources said there were three candidates for the post to be vacated by Lapeña. They are PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Director Jesus Verzosa, PNP-Chief Directorial Staff Chief Superintendent Antonio Billones, and PNP-Community Relations Group chief Director Emmanuel Carta.

Aside from Lapeña, other retiring ranking officers are Chief Superintendent Oscar Valenzuela who retires on Feb. 26, Chief Supt. Augusto Angcanan, PNP Civil Security Group chief, March 18; Director Alejandro Lapinid, PNP Director for Intelligence, May 18; Chief Supt. Nicasio Pasinos, PNP director for personnel and records management, July 22; Chief Supt. Noe Wong, PNP Comptroller. Aug. 11; and Chief Supt. Raul Gonzales, PNP CAR chief, Aug. 17.

The others were Chief Supt. Edgardo Hilomen, PNP Communications and Electronics chief, Sept. 15; Chief Supt. Napoleon de los Santos, Oct. 7; Chief Supt. Servando Hizon, Oct. 23; Chief Supt. Wilfredo Garcia, Nov. 5; Chief Supt. Ernesto Beles, PNP chief for Human Resource and Doctrine Development chief, Nov. 7; Chief Supt. Nicasio Radovan Jr., PNP Region 4-A chief, Nov. 8; and Chief Supt. Jose Salvacion, PNP director for Logistics, Feb. 13 next year.

If and when Verzosa takes over Lapeña’s post, Chief Supt. Rodolfo Mendoza will take charge of the CIDG.
