President Arroyo gave assurances yesterday the mothballed Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) will fully conform with international safety standards once it is formally opened.
"We will open NAIA-3 as soon as the Federal Aviation Agency accepts its safety features," Mrs. Arroyo said in her speech before the 32nd Business Conference at the Manila Hotel.
The President told the gathering of business leaders that NAIA-3 would operate as soon as international inspectors give their stamp of approval.
She said NAIA-3, which has been recently taken over by the government, is about 97 percent finished.
During the business conference, which included the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Filipino-Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., the business leaders took the opportunity to call on Mrs. Arroyo to order the Department of Transportation and Communications to fasttrack the full operation of the NAIA-3 by March next year.
